Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy (HLTAID015)

At the end of this course you will get a statement of attainment with the following accredited units of competency: 

·         HLTAID015 – Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

·         HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Inline with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, HLTAID015 and HLTAID009 should be updated every 12 months.

Pre-Requisites

HTLAID011 Provide First Aid or
HTLAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid

 

The course

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It teaches the knowledge to emergency responders who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, including community, sporting, and workplace settings.

 

Course content

·         Duty of Care, Consent, Negligence, Reporting

·         Debriefing

·         Chain of survival

·         The emergency action plan

·         The unconscious casualty

·         Major haemorrhage, including tourniquet, & haemostatic dressings

·         Vital signs, including respiration rates, pulses, & pulse oximetry

·         Airway management, & suction

·         Airway adjuncts

·         Contraindications for oxygen administration

·         CPR & Defibrillation single & team, including team rotations

·         Oxygen Administration – bag valve mask, & therapy

·         Oxygen Viva Setup & Maintenance
