PATTA in conjunction with SSI has now released its Diving Work Health and Safety Course that enables you meet the regulatory requirements of SafeWork NSW. This requirement covers the relevant competencies for general diving work. Once successfully completed, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others.

All divers undertaking general diving work in New South Wales (NSW) providing paid services to recreational dive clients using ISO qualifications, such as SSI Divemasters, Dive Guide, Assistant Instructors or Open Water Scuba Instructors must successfully complete and hold a Statement of Attainment for BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others before the 1st of January 2023.

The course can be completed at your own pace and in the familiar surroundings of your workplace. The course requires that each student completes the theory workbook and three practical assessments. The workbook should be completed in conjunction with the Powerpoint presentation and the Student Learner Guide. The practical assessment must be overseen by SCUBA Haven. Evidence of the successful completion of each of these practical assessments

The course discusses Work Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, Identifying Workplace Hazards and Managing Risks and Dive Planning, Reporting and Records. The course has been contextualised for the recreational diving industry and is applicable to dive professionals from all training organisations.
